Mt Joy Quilt Study Group

The Mount Joy Quilt Study Group will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, April 23 at 1:30 PM at the Milanof-Schock Library at 1184 Anderson Ferry Road , Mount Joy .

The group will focus on the study and research of historic quilts of the 18th, 19th, and first half of the 20th centuries.

Quilt appraisers, collectors, historians, restorers, and quilters are welcome to join the informal gathering. Participants will have the opportunity to closely examine individual quilts, their histories, fabrics, and processes.

For the first meeting, founding members of the group: Jo Garvin, Jo Griffith, Linda Harvey, and Alethia White, will bring quilts from their collections. At subsequent meetings, other members will share their quilts.

Attendees are asked to bring white gloves for handling the quilts. Photographs will be permitted only by permission from the quilt owner. No food or beverages will be permitted at the meeting.

A "pre-meeting" lunch will be held at a local restaurant for those who are interested and have reserved their Quilt Study Group space.

Folks with all levels of knowledge are welcome to join the group. To do so, please call Jo Garvin, 711-665-7931, to reserve a space as the number is limited.
