This mailing list was created to give quilters a place to discuss the historical aspects of quilting. We discuss all aspects of antique quilts - fabrics, design, color, etc. - as well as the stories behind them. We also share our experiences with the more practical aspect of antique quilts - finding, washing, researching, restoring and even reproducing. Some buying, selling and swapping is allowed, but our primary focus is on learning from each other by exchanging stories, research, tips and techniques.
We are NOT a general chat list. Postings are limited to quilt history topics. Please introduce yourself the first time you post - we are a friendly group and would like to get to know you.
To subscribe, we ask for a one-time payment of $15 to help defray costs of the mailing list, the E-board and this site. To do this, you can use the paypal button below. Ordering books through our web pages helps us, too. We do appreciate the help!
You will receive a confirmation from lyris-confirm-(a number)@lyris.quiltropolis.com . That (a number) part is the number that identifies you.
After you subscribe, you will receive a note from Lyris asking you to confirm your choices. You must confirm to get the list postings. To unsubscribe from the list, click here.
To post to the list, send your note to QHL@lyris.quiltropolis.com. When you post, please don't post in MIME or HTML. Not all mail clients can read it and it makes a mess of the digest so those posts are blocked from the list.
If you send a note and don't see it posted, double check your mail client's setting. Make sure you are using "plain text". Don't send pictures to the list for the same reason. Use our E-board by clicking on the Gallery button on the left or by visiting http://vintagepictures.eboard.com. (see below)
Delete all but the relevant part of a post when you respond to that post. Don't respond to a topic with a "me too" to the list. Send those privately. Disagreements are allowed - flaming, either on or off the list, is not. No overt advertising of your business. Mentioning it occasionally is fine - we all want to support each other- but repeatedly posting updates and sales (etc.) should not be done. This is not a commercial list. Members can look through our archives by clicking on the archives button in the upper left hand corner.
Here's how to post a picture:
To post photos to eboard: Click on the post/edit link in the upper right hand corner underneath Vintage Pictures. The password is vintage. Then click on the tab where you want to put your picture and click on the add a note link again in the upper right hand corner under Vintage Pictures. Add your explanatory note with the picture as an attachment.
To delete or edit the photo, just do the same thing and click on the delete or edit button as appropriate. If you have any problems with the E-board, contact Kris. Subscription and archive problems should also be sent to Kris.
